MIN LIEN NO 1525 - Northeast Coast
The Min Lien No. 1525 is one of our absolute favourites along Taiwan’s Northeast Coast, a proper diver’s wreck without being overly demanding. Sunk intentionally in 2001, this fishing vessel now rests upright at 47 metres, providing a genuinely atmospheric deep dive. We love descending onto the main deck, often finding it bustling with a congregation of yellow snapper and schools of fusiliers so thick they momentarily obscure the wreck's structure. What makes this site a standout is the way the wreck has become a living reef. The wheelhouse is still largely intact, allowing for some careful penetration if you’re comfortable and properly trained for overhead environments. Look out for moray eels peering from the darker corners and lionfish perched lazily on the railings. We’ve had some fantastic encounters here with resident batfish gliding curiously past. The visibility can be hit or miss depending on the season, but on a good day, seeing the entire wreck emerge from the blue is a real treat. It’s definitely a site for experienced divers who appreciate the quiet majesty of a deeper wreck.
