Po Hospital Shipwreck - Ksamil
The Po Hospital Shipwreck, just off Ksamil, is one of our favourite dives in Albania, and it’s always a standout for new divers in the Mediterranean. This isn't just a pile of metal; it’s a proper piece of history, sunk during WWII. You’ll find the wreck sitting upright, mostly intact, at a comfortable 24 metres. We love exploring the bow, where the torpedo strike is still visible, giving the whole dive a real sense of its past. Entry is usually a boat drop, and conditions are generally calm, making it a good intermediate dive. Inside, you can still make out the large rooms where the hospital facilities would have been. Keep an eye out for the resident moray eels and octopuses tucked into every crevice; they’ve made a thriving home here. On the deck, schools of damselfish flit around the corroded superstructure, and we’ve often seen impressive nudibranchs clinging to the metal. Visibility is typically good, often exceeding 15 metres, especially in the late morning sun, when the light penetrates the open sections of the wreck beautifully. It’s a dive that offers both a compelling story and vibrant marine life.
