CORAGGIO - Vlora
The Coraggio wreck in Vlora isn’t about depth, it’s about history, and frankly, some serious wreck penetration. Sitting in just one metre of water, this isn’t a dive, it’s more of a snorkel or, if you’re feeling intrepid, a crawl. We love that you can practically touch the surface while exploring the twisted metal. It’s a dangerous wreck, no doubt, but that’s part of its appeal. You’ll see sunlight shafts cutting through the hull, illuminating schools of tiny damselfish flitting through the beams. Our favourite part is poking around the engine room, which is surprisingly intact, considering its shallow grave. You’ll feel the chill of the metal, hear the soft gurgle of water as you duck under a corroded beam. It’s genuinely eerie in places, perfect for those who appreciate wrecks with character over coral. This site is for explorers, for photographers looking for dramatic light, and anyone who wants a close-up encounter with a piece of maritime history without needing a dive computer. We'd suggest going on a calm morning; the visibility is usually better then, letting the wreck’s details really pop.
