CHIETI - Kornati Islands

Chieti isn't your typical Croatian wreck. Not deep, not huge, but it's got character in spades. We love how the shallow depth, just 6m, completely transforms the dive; sunlight streams through the water, illuminating every rusted plate and twisted beam of this old cargo ship. It went down in 1944, carrying coal, and now it’s a skeleton of its former self, scattered across the seabed like forgotten Lego. You'll spend most of your time exploring the debris field, poking around the bent metal, where shoals of damselfish dart between the pieces. Look closer, and you'll spot blennies peering from crevices and the occasional moray eel tucked under a larger section of hull. Visibility here is often excellent, so you get clear views of the entire site, making it easy to navigate and perfect for those leisurely dives where you can just drift and observe. It’s a photographer’s dream too, especially on a sunny afternoon when the light really plays across the wreck. We'd suggest pairing it with a drift dive nearby, or making it your relaxed second dive of the day.
