GIULIANA - Kornati Islands

The Giuliana holds a special place in our hearts for Kornati diving. It’s not a deep dive, sitting shallow at 12 metres, but that just makes the 1943 motor vessel even more accessible and engaging. We love how the Adriatic light filters down, illuminating the wreck’s skeletal remains, particularly on a sunny afternoon. This isn’t about huge pelagics; it’s about the intimacy of a wreck that’s truly become part of the reef. Look for schools of juvenile damselfish flitting through the hull, their silver scales catching the light. Inside, where the cabins once were, you'll often find conger eels peering out from shadowy nooks, and we’ve spotted plenty of scorpionfish camouflaged against the encrusted metalwork. The bow is particularly photogenic, with soft corals starting to flourish, a testament to nature’s reclamation. It’s a gentle exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate history and the slow creep of marine life over man-made structures. We'd suggest going in the morning before any wind picks up, when the water is often at its calmest and the visibility best. It's a genuinely charming site that makes you pause and reflect.
