MARIA TERESA - Kornati Islands

Maria Teresa in the Kornati Islands is one of those spots that really sticks with you. It’s a shallow wreck, sitting upright in maybe two metres of water, an old fishing boat that’s become a home for so much life. We love how accessible it is, perfect for snorkelers or newer divers wanting a relaxed explore. The wooden hull is completely carpeted in sponges and colourful anemones, a truly vibrant contrast against the blue. As you drift over it, you’ll see shoals of juvenile fish darting in and out of the deck, and we've often spotted octopuses peeking out from under a overturned plank. It’s a real joy to hover, watching the light play across the encrusted timbers, feeling the gentle surge. We’d suggest heading out late afternoon when the sun is lower; the golden light really makes the colours pop. It’s not about grand scale or deep exploration here, it’s about the simple beauty of nature reclaiming something man-made.
