Duba Wreck - Vis & Biševo

The Duba Wreck, sitting off Vis, is one of our favourite Croatian dives for a good reason. We’ve seen plenty of wrecks in the Adriatic, but this one always feels special. It’s a merchant ship, split in two, lying on a sandy bottom between 10 and 30 metres. The bow section, upright and still quite intact, is where we usually spend most of our time. You can swim through the holds, imagining the cargo it once carried, shafts of light cutting through the open deck plating above. The stern section is more broken up, lying on its side, but it’s fantastic for finding critters. We’ve seen conger eels peering from dark crevices and schools of shiny damselfish flitting around the rusted metalwork. There are often lobsters tucked deep inside, too. Visibility here is typically excellent, often reaching 25-30 metres, which makes the whole wreck visible as you descend. It’s a great dive for anyone comfortable with slightly deeper profiles and some penetration, but even less experienced divers can enjoy the shallower parts of the bow. We suggest timing your dive for late morning, as the sun hitting the upright bow section creates some really dramatic photo opportunities.
