FAST CARRIER - Larnaca

The Fast Carrier, despite its rather generic name, has become one of our favourite shore dives in Larnaca. We love how accessible it is, sitting in only 5 metres of water. It’s perfect for a lazy afternoon dip, a quick photography mission, or even for newer divers getting comfortable around a proper wreck structure. What you find here is the skeletal remains of a 99-metre roll-on/roll-off vessel, driven aground in a heavy storm back in '92. The wreck lies mostly broken up, but you can still make out large sections of hull plating and various structural elements. It’s not one of those imposing, intact wrecks, but more of a sprawling, multi-part exploration. Our pick for finding interesting shots is the twisted metalwork, where the light plays beautifully through the gaps. You’ll see plenty of damselfish darting between the crevices, and we’ve often spotted small groupers tucked into sheltered spots. It’s a site that rewards a slow, deliberate exploration, rather than a quick swim-through. Keep an eye out for the resident octopus, too; it’s usually well camouflaged but often reveals itself with a slight colour change as you pass.
