Kömürlübucak Koyu Sg Batık - Larnaca

We love Kömürlübucak Koyu, often called the ‘SG Batık’ by local divers, as a chilled-out wreck dive that’s perfect for stretching out a surface interval or introducing someone to their first proper wreck. At just 18 metres, it’s shallow enough for extended bottom times and a really relaxed pace. This isn’t some massive, intact vessel; it’s more of a scattered field of ribs and plating, thought to be a cargo ship that met its end sometime in the early 20th century. We particularly enjoy poking around the larger sections of hull, which have become fantastic homes for octopuses – keep an eye out for their tell-tale middens of shell fragments. You’ll also spot plenty of blennies darting into tiny crevices and the occasional moray eel peeking from beneath a steel plate. The ambient light at this depth is lovely, often creating shimmering patterns on the sandy seabed between the wreckage. It’s a gentle exploration, ideal for photographers wanting to capture macro life or newer divers gaining confidence. Our favourite time to dive it is mid-morning, just after the sun has climbed high enough to really illuminate the site without too much surface glare.
