Lady Thetis - Larnaca

Lady Thetis, near Larnaca, is one of our favourite wreck dives in Cyprus, mainly because she just feels so accessible and welcoming. She’s a trawler, sunk intentionally in 2014, and sits upright on the seabed, making her an ideal training ground for wreck specialties or just a really pleasant potter about for experienced divers. You can fin right through the wheelhouse, down into the engine room, and explore the holds. We love watching the light filter through the open hatches, illuminating schools of sardines that flicker like silver confetti. She’s a proper artificial reef now, thoroughly colonised. We’ve spotted big groupers lurking in shadowy corners, and often see conger eels poking their heads from pipes. Look closely, and you’ll find Atlantic stargazers buried in the sand nearby, just their eyes peeking out. Visibility here is usually excellent, often 25 metres plus, and the lack of strong current makes for a relaxed dive. We’d suggest going early in the morning to beat any crowds, though it rarely feels truly busy.
