Capo Carbonara - Sardinia

Capo Carbonara often gets overshadowed by Sardinia's more dramatic wrecks, but we think that’s a real shame. We love this site for its relaxed vibe and surprising amount of life, especially if you take your time. Drop in over the posidonia beds, those vast underwater meadows of Neptune’s lace and Mediterranean tapeweed. They’re a nursery for so much, and you’ll often spot painted combers darting between the fronds or even a shy Mediterranean slipper lobster tucked away. The real magic happens as you drift toward the rocky outcrops. Suddenly, the landscape shifts. Scarlet coral glows in the gloom, and if you peer into the cracks, you might find a grumpy scorpionfish or even a garrupa eyeing you up. It’s not a site for big pelagics, but for macro enthusiasts and those who appreciate the smaller, intricate details of the Mediterranean, it’s a quiet delight. The sunsets here, viewed from the boat after a dive, are an added bonus. Perfect for beginners or anyone wanting an easy, rewarding afternoon.
