HMS Shakespeare - Sardinia

The HMS Eagle wreck in the Balearics is a proper beast. We love how the sheer scale of it hits you from the moment you drop down. It’s an old dreadnought, sunk in 1918, and it rests upright, a monumental artificial reef. You’ll spend most of your dive just appreciating the size, cruising over the deck and peering into the darker sections where schools of barracuda often hover. Swim through the superstructure and you might surprise a loggerhead turtle resting on a gun turret, or watch a European storm-petrel swooping overhead during your safety stop. The visibility here can be excellent, and the light filtering down onto the massive metal hull creates some genuinely dramatic scenes. We’d suggest going early in the morning to beat any potential boat traffic and catch the best light. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and don't mind a longer swim, offering plenty to explore without being overly complex, perfect for advanced recreational divers. Just remember, it’s a big wreck; pick a section and really soak it in.
