ISABEL - Sardinia

The Isabel wreck in Sardinia is one of those sites we always recommend for a relaxed afternoon dive. It's not a deep dive, sitting at a comfortable 14 metres, so you get plenty of bottom time to really soak it all in. We love how the stern section of this cargo ship is still so intact, almost inviting you to peer into its shadowy holds. You can easily swim through the superstructure, watching the light play through the rusted metal, illuminating the schools of damselfish that dart in and out. It’s a photographer's dream on a sunny day, with the light shafts piercing the water and highlighting the colourful nudibranchs clinging to the hull. Our favourite part is the way the wreck has become a home. Moray eels peek from holes, groupers lurk in the deeper sections, and you’ll often find octopus tucked away in crevices, their eyes tracking your movements. The wreck’s structure creates perfect little hideaways. We'd suggest going mid-morning for the best light, before any afternoon chop picks up. It’s perfect for newer wreck divers or anyone who just wants a beautiful, unhurried exploration.
