JOSEPHINE - Sardinia

Josephine is a wreck we always make time for when we’re in Sardinia, even if it’s a bit of a detour. Forget the notion of some grand, intact vessel; this is a yacht, broken up on the rocks off Propriano back in ‘75. What’s left isn’t about penetration or perfect decks. Instead, it’s a beautiful scattering of metal, ribs, and plates draped over the rocky seabed, creating a fantastic habitat. We love how the Mediterranean light filters through the shallows, illuminating every crevice where moray eels peer out. You’ll find schools of damselfish flitting between the rusted sections, and often a big dusky grouper lurking deeper in the structure. It’s a shallow dive, so you get plenty of bottom time to really absorb the scene. Our favourite part is spotting the vibrant nudibranchs that seem to favour the yacht’s encrusted hull. It's a relaxed dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates the way nature reclaims what’s lost to the sea.
