KT12 Wreck - Sardinia
The KT12 is a proper dive, one that truly defines wreck diving in the Mediterranean for us. She’s a German transport ship, sunk during World War II, lying in a way that just begs to be explored. We love descending onto her deck, the light filtering through the clear Sardinian water, highlighting the massive cargo holds. You can peer right into them, imagining the supplies she once carried. The wreck itself has become a bustling apartment block for marine life. We’ve seen huge groupers sheltering in the deeper sections, their dark eyes watching you glide past. Schools of barracuda often circle above the main superstructure, their silver bodies glinting. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the prop is still mostly intact, draped in colourful sponges. It’s a fantastic photo opportunity if you hit it with good light. This site is best for experienced wreck divers comfortable with penetration, though plenty can be seen just exploring the exterior. Come in late spring or early autumn for the best visibility and fewer boats.
