MARIE DI MONTE ALLEGRO - Sardinia

The Marie di Monte Allegro wreck is something special. We love how the story unfolds here, a wooden schooner from the 1800s, still very much a wreck but now a home. It's not a deep dive, sitting at a comfortable 15 metres, which means plenty of bottom time to explore the hull’s skeletal remains. You can weave through the ribs, a proper peek into maritime history, and it’s a site that really suits divers who appreciate a wreck with a narrative. What you'll find there now is a surprisingly vibrant ecosystem. Octopus hide in the shadows of the timbers, their eyes following you as you pass. We’ve seen huge schools of saddled bream here, just shimmering over the decking, and the way the sun filters through the planks, hitting those schools, it’s quite beautiful. Keep an eye out for moray eels tucked into any crevice they can find. This is a chill dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak up the atmosphere of a piece of history returning to nature.
