CITTA DI FANO - Ustica

The Citta di Fano wreck is one of our absolute favourites in Ustica, especially if you’re into a bit of history with your dive. She lies shallow, just 10 metres down, making her an easy, relaxed dive for almost anyone. You’ll find her mast still largely intact, reaching up from the seabed, a clear landmark as you drop down. We love finning slowly around the stern, imagining the ship in her prime, before she ran aground in 1971. Today, her metal hull is a haven for life. Look closely and you’ll spot octopuses tucked into crevices, their eyes watching you, and shoals of damselfish shimmering around the superstructure. It's not a deep, penetration wreck, but more of a vibrant artificial reef. For the best light, we’d suggest an early morning dive when the sun catches the mast, or a late afternoon visit for a completely different mood as the light fades. Just keep an eye out for boat traffic if you're exploring the very top of the mast on ascent.
