Santa Marija Reef Dive Site - Comino

We’ve always had a soft spot for Comino, and Santa Marija Reef really delivers on that classic Mediterranean charm. Drop in on a sunny afternoon and you’ll find the light just dances through the water, illuminating the pale rocks and the deep greens of the slender seagrass. It’s not a dramatic wall dive, more of a gently sloping reef, which we actually prefer sometimes. It means you can take your time, really look for the small stuff. Our favourite part is cruising along the reef’s edge, often spotting dusky groupers lurking in the shadows. The scarlet coral here is a real standout, adding splashes of colour against the rock. Keep an eye out for elliptical file-shells tucked into crevices – they’re surprisingly pretty when you spot them. We’ve seen loggerhead turtles here a few times, usually just gliding past, completely unbothered. It’s a relatively easy dive, good for stretching out a long bottom time, perfect for divers who appreciate the subtler beauty of the Med and love to potter around looking for the smaller creatures.
