Why dive here
With 116+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - Barrocas de Fora offers some of Algarve & Berlengas's richest diving. Water ranges 15-19°C, warmest June, October, November.
Barrocas de Fora, off the Algarve coast, is a series of rocky outcrops that provide shelter for a good variety of smaller fish. We’ve seen octopus peeking from crevices and schools of sardines moving through the rocks. It’s a straightforward dive, generally calm, making it a solid choice for newer divers or those looking for an easy afternoon in the water. Expect typical Mediterranean reef residents, nothing too dramatic, but always interesting for an hour.
