CINTA DELA CONCEPCION - Algarve & Berlengas
Cinta Dela Concepcion isn't about deep dives or dramatic drop-offs. It's a charming, shallow wreck, the kind of spot we love for a relaxed second dive or when we’re just easing back into the water. Lying at a uniform 5 metres, this old dredger is remarkably intact, which makes for some great exploring. You can fin around the entire hull, peer into the old machinery, and imagine the working life of the vessel. What makes it a standout for us is the way the wreck has become a home. Schools of juvenile sea bream often hover over the deck, flashing silver in the sun. We’ve spotted octopus tucked into crevices, their eyes watching us with a curious intensity, and moray eels peeking out from pipes. The light penetration at this depth is fantastic, illuminating the rust-coloured metal and the green algae that clings to every surface. It’s an easy, accessible dive, perfect for photographers wanting to practice natural light shots, or anyone who simply enjoys the quiet contemplation of a wreck slowly succumbing to the sea.
