Pedra da Oura, just off the coast of Algarve, is a solid little spot for divers just getting their fins wet. At a shallow 11 meters, it’s a perfect training ground, or just a nice relaxed dip if you're looking for something easy. You’ll find some interesting rock formations here, a few crevices to poke around in, and usually a good scattering of smaller fish – bream, wrasse, sometimes even an octopus tucked away. Visibility can be quite good on a calm day, giving you plenty of time to practice buoyancy and enjoy the simple, quiet beauty of the sub-Mediterranean shallows. We'd suggest going on a weekday morning to avoid any boat traffic.
