SARASTONE - Algarve & Berlengas
The Sarastone, a steamship sunk by aircraft in 1941, rests upright in about 13 metres, just a few metres off the shore. It’s a good little wreck for a relaxed dive, especially if you're keen on seeing history without needing deep dive certifications. You can easily make out the basic structure, and we’ve often found schools of sea bream darting around the scattered debris. While it's not a massive wreck, the Sarastone offers a peaceful exploration, with plenty of nooks and crannies that have become home to smaller crabs and anemones. We'd suggest it for newer wreck divers or those looking for a second, less strenuous dive of the day.
