SPATHARI - Algarve & Berlengas
Spathari sits in surprisingly shallow water, making it a different kind of wreck dive. We're talking two metres, max, so it's more like a snorkel or a very relaxed dive. This is the remains of a steamship, broken up and scattered, and because it’s so shallow, the light really plays across the pieces. You’ll find sections of hull and machinery, now completely taken over by small crabs scuttling over the metal and schools of juvenile fish darting between the rusty plates. It’s a site for those who enjoy pottering, exploring the details, and seeing how the ocean reclaims things – perfect for a long bottom time or even a second dive after something deeper.
