Caskelot/Nederland - Baltic Coast

We absolutely love the Caskelot and Nederland wreck combo off the Baltic Coast. These two sailing ships, a carvel-built merchantman and a smaller Dutch galliot, went down in a storm way back in 1845. They’re side-by-side on a silty seabed at 24 metres, relatively intact and ripe for exploration. Dropping down, the silhouettes emerge quickly from the green-blue, a classic Baltic wreck dive. The Caskelot, the bigger of the two, still has its sterncastle and parts of its hull standing proud. You can peek into the hold, imagining the cargo, now home to clouds of small blennies and the occasional lurking cod. The Nederland, though smaller, is charming in its own right, with its timbers more spread out, creating a lovely habitat for anemones and hydroids. Our favourite part? The sheer sense of history. It's a proper cold-water wreck dive, ideal for those who appreciate maritime heritage over colourful reefs. Visibility can vary, so we'd suggest picking a calm day after a period of settled weather to make the most of it.
