LIBURNA - Bodrum

The Liburna, for us, is one of those unexpected surprises in Bodrum. It’s a relatively shallow wreck, sitting at just 10 metres, making it perfect for a relaxed dive, even if you’re newer to wreck diving. This yacht went down back in 1990 after an explosion and fire, and you can still feel that history as you glide over the deck. We love how accessible it is, and the light penetration is incredible. Sunlight filters down, illuminating the superstructure and the gentle sway of sea grass that has taken root. You’ll find schools of damselfish flitting through the open cabin spaces, and we’ve often spotted moray eels peeking out from under the hull. The wreck has become a true artificial reef, covered in sponges and anemones. Our favourite part is exploring the stern, where the prop is still visible, encrusted with growth. It’s a tranquil dive, often with very little current, and it feels like stepping back in time with every kick.
