Diving the Uluburun Wreck isn’t just about seeing a shipwreck; it’s about touching history. This isn't some modern steel hulk. We’re talking a Late Bronze Age vessel, older than most things you'll ever encounter underwater, resting at depths that typically require technical training. You’ll drift down, the Mediterranean’s calm blue giving way to the dark shape of the ancient cargo scatter. Forget intact hull sections; centuries have reduced it to amphorae, copper ingots, and various trade goods now cemented into the seabed, forming a fascinating archaeological field. We love the feeling of awe here. The sheer age of the artefacts is humbling, and it’s incredible how marine life has integrated with the site. Look for marbled spinefoot grazing amongst the ancient pottery, or redcoat darting into cracks that once held precious cargo. Visibility is usually good, which helps when you're trying to spot those rhomboid sweepers congregating in the deeper, quieter sections. This dive is definitely for the experienced, technically-minded diver with an appreciation for archaeology. It’s a quiet, contemplative dive, perfect for those who want more than just pretty fish, though you’ll still find plenty of curious lionfish and even the occasional pufferfish inspecting the ancient relics.
