CAMEL - Northumberland & Northeast

The Camel, sitting upright in a shallow 7m, is an approachable wooden-hulled steamship wreck for newer divers or those looking for a relaxed potter. We often find the visibility here surprisingly decent for the Northeast, letting you pick out the single boiler and parts of the compound expansion engine. It’s well-broken now, but the structure still provides plenty of nooks and crannies for crabs and lobsters, and we’ve spotted some decent-sized cod sheltering in the deeper sections. It’s an easy dive from shore or boat, making it a good choice when you want a straightforward wreck fix without battling heavy currents.
