CRAGSMAN - Northumberland & Northeast

The Cragsman is one of those wrecks we keep coming back to, and it’s a brilliant example of how much character a relatively small wreck can pack in. Stranded in 1913, she sits broken into distinct sections, making for some really interesting navigation and exploration. We love the way the forward section still has its bow pointing defiantly skyward; it’s a great visual, especially on a sunny day when the light filters down. You’ll find her draped in dead man’s fingers and anemones, providing shelter for more crabs and lobsters than you can count. We’ve often seen big ling tucked into the deeper parts of the hull, and the occasional wolf fish lurking amongst the plates. The depth is shallow enough that you get good bottom times, letting you properly explore the different pieces of machinery scattered around. Our favourite part has to be the boiler, a huge, distinct landmark that's usually buzzing with fish. It’s perfect for divers who appreciate a wreck with a story, without needing to descend to crushing depths.
