DORIS - Northumberland & Northeast

The DORIS, a former derrick barge, sits upright at 17 metres, making it a solid wreck dive for those exploring the Northumberland coast. Sunk in 1927, she’s become well-colonised by the local marine life – expect to find plenty of crabs tucked into her steelwork, lobsters patrolling the debris field, and schools of coalfish darting through the open sections. It’s a compact wreck, but you can explore the intact hull and superstructure, feeling the history of the North Sea in its cool embrace. We think it’s a good option for divers looking for a straightforward wreck dive without excessive depth or current challenges.
