DOSINIA (BOW SECTION) - Northumberland & Northeast

The Dosinia bow section is one of our absolute favourite Northumberland wreck dives, especially for newer wreck enthusiasts. Sitting upright at a comfortable 9 metres, this is the perfect introduction to what North Sea wreck diving is all about – a proper piece of history, without the crushing depth. You’ll experience the gentle sway of the kelp beds before the structure looms, surprisingly intact for a vessel bombed in 1940. We love poking around the forward holds, imagining the cargo, and seeing how the light plays through the gaps. This isn’t a colourful coral reef, but the life here is still engaging. Expect to see wolf fish peeking out from under plates of steel, shoals of cod drifting through the corridors, and the occasional crab scuttling across the deck. The currents can pick up a bit here, so we always plan our dive for slack water. It makes exploring the forepeak and the anchors much more enjoyable. It’s a brilliant dive for those who want to feel like they’re truly exploring a piece of maritime history, not just observing it.
