ETON - Northumberland & Northeast

The Eton barge, a casualty of a collision back in 1886, now rests in about 10 meters of water near the entrance to Canada Basin. What’s left of her is spread out, a low-profile scatter of hull plates and ribs that create a surprisingly good home for the local critters. We’ve found plenty of crabs tucked into crevices, some decent sized lobsters lurking under the larger sections, and always a good showing of blennies peeking from the nooks. It’s a shallow, straightforward dive, ideal for those looking to potter around a historical wreck without any deep commitments, perfect for an hour’s bimble, especially as a second dive. Visibility here can be a bit variable, as you'd expect in these waters, so pick a calm day with an incoming tide for the best chance of a clear view.
