EVELEEN - Northumberland & Northeast

The Eveleen, just off Seahouses, is one of our absolute favourite Northumberland wrecks, especially when the light’s good. It’s a shallow dive, topping out at 10 metres, which makes it perfect for longer bottom times and really soaking in the atmosphere. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, but you can still make out the ribs and plates of this old steamer, scattered across the rocky seabed. What we love about the Eveleen is how much life it attracts. You’ll find nudibranchs crawling over the kelp-draped metal, and lobsters peeking out from beneath the larger sections of hull. Conger eels are often lurking in the deeper crevices, sometimes surprisingly large ones. It’s not a swim-through kind of wreck, more of a explore-the-debris-field site, perfect for keen photographers or anyone who enjoys the quiet hunt for smaller critters. We’d suggest going at slack tide to avoid any surface chop; the visibility can really make a difference here.
