FB 116 (POSSIBLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

The FB 116, affectionately known as 'Possibly' among local divers, really stands out in the chilly Northumberland waters. We love finding a wreck with a bit of a story, and this former Mersey Docks barge, unceremoniously dumped here, has certainly found a second life. Dropping down to 38 metres, you’ll first notice the sheer scale of the thing – it’s intact enough to give you a real sense of its previous purpose, despite being upside down. It’s an impressive chunk of metal, now completely colonised. Our favourite part is navigating the hull, which offers plenty of nooks and crannies to poke into. You’ll definitely want a good torch, not just for the depth, but to illuminate the vibrant jewel anemones that plaster every surface. Keep an eye out for inquisitive wolf fish peering from cracks; they’re often spotted here, along with sizeable lobsters tucked into the darker recesses. This site is a proper diver’s dive, suited for those comfortable with deeper wrecks and keen to explore something a little different from the usual upright structures.
