FB 43 (POSSIBLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

The FB 43, what a brute of a barge. We suspect it’s her, and if it is, this big, boxy wreck sits upright at 40m, a proper dark dive. Dropping down, you hit this massive metal hulk. It’s not about delicate structures here; it’s about sheer scale, a vast industrial relic colonised by the North Sea. This site suits divers who appreciate the history, the sheer mystery of a purpose-built vessel just dumped. You can swim over the deck, poke around the open holds, and imagine the cargo it once carried. We’ve found wolf fish tucked into crevices, massive edible crabs scuttling across the plates, and the occasional cod hanging in the gloom, almost part of the wreck itself. It feels very much like an artificial reef, but with a stark, brutalist charm. This isn't a delicate coral garden; it's a testament to human industry, reclaimed.
