FB 86 (POSSIBLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

We have to be honest, the FB 86 isn’t going to win any beauty contests, but that’s precisely why we love it. This isn't some pristine, intact vessel; it’s a working barge, unceremoniously dumped by the Mersey Docks & Harbour Board, now lying at 40 metres. What you get is a fantastically rugged, industrial playground. Think twisted metal, exposed ribs, and the sheer scale of something built for heavy lifting, not pretty sailing. It’s the kind of dive where you feel the history of industry, even if it’s just in the raw utility of the structure. We love nosing around the deeper sections, watching the resident cod and ling dart between the beams. The current can be brisk, so pick your slack. When it's clear and calm, the light filtering down through the North Sea green has a moody, atmospheric quality. This wreck suits divers who appreciate character over glamour, and who don’t mind a bit of a rumble.
