FB97 - Northumberland & Northeast

The FB97, a barge that found its resting place in 1956, offers a surprisingly accessible wreck dive in the Northumberland waters. Sitting in just a meter of water, it’s less about depth and more about observation, making it a good spot for snorkelers or very shallow freediving. What you get here is a sturdy metal skeleton, well-colonised over the decades by local crabs, small fish, and a decent covering of anemones and various seaweeds. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for those days when you want to spend time up close with marine life without the pressure of depth or currents. You’ll find it’s a nice change of pace, a chance to really slow down and appreciate the smaller details.
