GARNET - Northumberland & Northeast

The Garnet, sitting at just 10 metres, is a proper North Sea classic for us. She went down back in 1890, a steamship that now offers a wonderfully atmospheric dive, especially given how shallow she lies. We love poking around her scattered remains; it’s not one big intact hull, but rather a debris field of plates, ribs, and machinery spread across the seabed. You'll often find ling and cod tucked into the nooks and crannies, and the anenomes and dead man's fingers here are particularly lush, adding splashes of vibrant orange and white to the dark metal. Our favourite part is navigating through the larger sections of collapsed hull, feeling the chill of the North Sea water, while crabs scuttle away from your torch beam. This site is fantastic for newer wreck divers or those looking for a relaxed bimble, and the short bottom time means you can easily get two dives in if the conditions are playing ball. Look for a calm day, as even a slight chop can stir up the sediment at this depth.
