GRAPHIC - Northumberland & Northeast

The *Graphic* is one of our favourite shore dives in the Northeast, especially if you’re into history. This isn't a deep dive, peaking at about 2 metres, but it offers a genuinely engaging experience for anyone keen to explore a piece of maritime past. We’re talking about a steam trawler that ran aground in 1923, and its skeletal remains are still there, scattered across the seabed. What we love about the *Graphic* is how accessible it is. You’re wading in, and suddenly, you’re finning over twisted metal plates and ribs, the ship's structure broken but still very much present. Sunlight filters through, dappling the wreck and highlighting the crabs scuttling between the plates and the blennies peeking from crevices. It's a fantastic site for photographers, especially macro enthusiasts, as the light penetration is incredible, and the wreck acts as an artificial reef, drawing in all sorts of smaller critters. Look closely in the nooks, and you might spot a juvenile fish or a colourful anemone. It's a proper wreck dive, just without the depth, and perfect for a relaxed exploration on a calm day.
