J W T - Northumberland & Northeast

The J W T, a wooden sailing vessel that went down after a collision in 1891, lies at a friendly 13 metres. What’s left of her hull is pretty broken up, but you can still make out the general shape, and the timbers themselves are wonderfully encrusted. Expect to see plenty of crabs tucked into crevices, some bigger cod often hanging around, and colourful anemones swaying gently on the remaining structure. It’s a nice, easy wreck dive, probably best for those who appreciate history and the quiet colonisation of the seabed.
