JEANETTE - Northumberland & Northeast

The Jeanette isn't your typical deep wreck, and that's precisely why we love it. Sunk in 1977 right on the beach near Kilkeel Harbour, she’s a proper low-tide adventure. Forget expensive charters; this is a shore dive you can genuinely walk to. What you'll find here is a fishing vessel, broken but still recognisable, with her ribs reaching up from the sand. It's an atmospheric dive, especially when there's a gentle swell washing over the remains. We’ve seen small pollack darting through the rusted metalwork and blennies peeking from crevices. It's a fantastic spot for photographers looking for interesting textures and light, or for newer divers to experience a wreck without the depth or current concerns. Best dived at slack low tide, you’ll have the most time to explore before the water starts to push back in. Visibility can be a bit variable, as you'd expect on a beach, but when it’s good, the light reflecting off the sand can be quite magical.
