JENEMI - Northumberland & Northeast

The JENEMI is a little stunner, a small fishing vessel that went down in 2009. We love how relatively intact she is, sitting upright on the seabed at 59 metres. Dropping down, you start to make out the shape, the bow pointing into the current, nets still tangled in places. It’s a deep dive, definitely one for experienced technical divers, but what you get for the effort is a truly peaceful exploration. The wheelhouse is still there, much of the superstructure too, and we often find ourselves just hovering, peering into the gloom, imagining the final moments. Over the years, she’s become a home for all sorts. Crabs skitter across the deck, their claws waving. Ling often hide in the darker recesses, and we’ve seen some decent-sized conger eels coiled up in the nooks and crannies. The lack of current at depth means the delicate silt often remains undisturbed, making for some surprisingly clear views of the wreck itself, a ghostly silhouette in the blue. It’s a proper dive, a quiet contemplation of a working boat's final resting place.
