LILLY (POSSIBLY) - Northumberland & Northeast

Ah, the Lilly. We say "possibly" because, well, the North Sea has a habit of claiming ships and holding onto their secrets. This isn't a grand, intact liner, but a much more intimate wreck, sitting at a perfectly accessible 11 metres. We love it because it’s a proper dive into history, a sailing vessel that met its end, now home to a surprising amount of life. You’ll drop onto a scattering of timbers and plates, testament to a wreck slowly succumbing to the sea. Look closely and you’ll find the remnants of her structure, like the curve of a rib or the sturdy spine of her keel, often draped in kelp. It's a fantastic spot for macro life. We always find velvet swimming crabs darting between the crevices, and if you have a keen eye, you might spot a squat lobster tucked away. The whole site has a quiet, reflective feel to it, a stark contrast to some of the more dramatic, deeper wrecks. It’s perfect for new wreck divers, or anyone who just wants a relaxed bimble with a bit of historical flavour. Our pick for an afternoon dive when the sun catches the suspended particles just right, giving the water a milky, ethereal glow.
