MARQUESS OF BUTE - Northumberland & Northeast

The *Marquess of Bute* is a dive that really takes you back in time. We love dropping onto this wreck because it’s so intact, sitting upright on the seabed at 30 metres. You can trace its story from the collapsed bow right through to the stern, picking out details like the anchor chains still visible and sections of the hull plating draped with kelp. This isn't just a pile of metal; it feels like a ghostly ship. Inside, the engine room is a highlight, quite accessible for experienced wreck divers. You can often spot inquisitive pollack darting through the beams, and the deeper sections are usually home to plump lobsters tucked into every crevice. We’d suggest diving this one on a slack tide, otherwise, the current can make navigating the interior a bit of a workout. It’s a proper dive for those who appreciate history and a bit of a rummage, best suited to divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and North Sea conditions.
