MASHONA - Northumberland & Northeast

The Mashona is a proper dive, a deep eddy of history in the Northumberland brine. We’re talking about a wreck that feels its age, not just a pile of plates. You drop onto the main deck, and straight away, that sense of the ship’s scale hits you. The bow is particularly intact, still pointing north, and you can swim through various sections of the superstructure. It's dark, even on a sunny day, and the currents can be lively, so you’ll want to time your slack water right. Our favourite feature has to be the mast, often bristling with dead man’s fingers and home to some hefty conger eels. We’ve seen them peering out of every nook. This isn't a brightly coloured reef; it's a dive for those who appreciate the somber beauty of steel and the way the sea reclaims everything. If you like a bit of a penetration, there are plenty of options, but always be mindful of silt and overhead environments. It’s a dive for experienced wreck heads, no doubt, and utterly rewarding when the conditions play ball.
