MEATH - Northumberland & Northeast

The Meath, an old steamship that went down in 1940 after hitting a mine, is a solid dive off the Northumberland coast. Lying in about 16 metres, she’s broken but still has some good structure to poke around. You'll definitely spot the two large boilers and parts of the triple-expansion engine, which are always a highlight. Expect to see cod, conger eels tucked into the darker spots, and plenty of wrasse darting through the metalwork. We’d say it’s a good day out for divers comfortable in cool water and with a bit of current, keen on exploring a piece of history.
