MISS TURNER - Northumberland & Northeast

We often find ourselves drawn to the dramatic deeper wrecks, but the Miss Turner proves that sometimes the best dives are those right under your nose, practically in the shallows. At a mere 5 metres, this isn't about pushing your depth limits. Instead, it’s about a relaxed, thorough exploration of a really characterful wreck. She’s a dangerous wreck, officially, but that’s due to her location and exposure, not her diveability. We love how the hull is broken and spread, creating fantastic little hidey-holes for crabs and wrasse. Our favourite time to dive the Miss Turner is at slack water on a calm day, when the visibility opens up to a good few metres, and you can really appreciate the structure. You’ll feel the gentle push and pull of the North Sea swell, even on a good day. Look closely and you’ll find nudibranchs crawling over the encrusted metalwork, and dogfish often cruise around the periphery. It's an ideal site for newer divers getting comfortable with wrecks, or for photographers who want ample bottom time to compose their shots without worrying about decompression.
