MONA - Northumberland & Northeast

The Mona, a steamship that went down in 1916, offers a solid dive for anyone exploring the Northumberland coast. We usually find her lying fairly intact at 19 metres, with the three-cylinder engine and single boiler still quite identifiable. It’s a good rummage site, with plenty of nooks and crannies that have become home to crabs, lobsters, and a decent scattering of anemones. Currents here can sometimes be a bit frisky, so we'd suggest picking a calmer day to really enjoy the exploration. It’s a rewarding wreck for those who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind a proper north-east UK dive.
