MORT - Northumberland & Northeast

The MORT wreck, sitting at 16 metres, is a great dive for those interested in a bit of history. This wooden barge went down back in 1883 after a collision near Clarence Rock, and what remains now is mostly the hull structure, well-integrated into the seabed. We often find plenty of crabs tucked into the timbers, and it’s a good spot to observe smaller fish like blennies and gobies darting around the old framework. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we’d suggest timing your dive with a slack tide for the best chance to really appreciate the wreck's character. It’s a straightforward dive, suitable for divers comfortable with basic wreck navigation.
