MY MINK - Northumberland & Northeast

The MY MINK is one of those shallow wrecks that just keeps giving, especially if you’re into the historical side of diving. Sitting at a maximum depth of 3m, it’s a perfect spot for extended dives, often feeling more like a treasure hunt than a typical wreck dive. We’ve spent hours poking around her ribs and plating, imagining the drama when the British tank steamer Argosy picked up that distress signal back in ‘63. Even though she’s well broken up, the structure that remains is surprisingly intricate. You’ll find sections of hull and machinery scattered across the seabed, each piece a home for something. Look closely among the nooks and crannies; we’ve spotted some impressively sized edible crabs tucked away and often see schools of small pollack darting through the wreckage. It’s a site that rewards patience and a keen eye, ideal for photographers or anyone who just loves a good rummage in history. Our pick for an easy, fascinating dive when the tide is right and visibility is playing along.
