OSSEO - Northumberland & Northeast

The OSSEO, a barque sunk way back in 1894, lies in only three metres of water. We're talking seriously shallow here, so it’s a site for those calmer days when you want to spend time exploring without worrying about deco. What's left of the 74-metre vessel is pretty broken up, but you can still pick out the hull plates and framework. We’ve seen a decent number of crabs tucked into the wreckage, plus a few small wrasse darting around the kelp that's taken root. It’s not a deep penetration wreck, obviously, but a really nice, relaxed dive for photographers or anyone wanting a leisurely potter.
